Down day for the European indices with declines over -1.20%

The major European indices are ending the day with declines of -1.2% or more. A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

  • German DAX, -1.34%
  • France’s CAC, -1.31%
  • UK’s FTSE 100, -1.21%
  • Spain’s Ibex, -1.57%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB, -1.38%

As London/European traders exit, US stock indices are also lower. The Dow industrial average is leading the way with the decliner -1.37%, but the S&P index is also down by nearly 1%. Price action has been volatile:

  • Dow industrial average -564 points or -1.35% at 41349
  • S&P index down -51.70 point or -0.92% at 5562.93
  • NASDAQ index -73.98 points or -0.42% at 17393.59
  • Russell 2000-4.60 points or -0.23% at 2014.46

US yields are trading higher:

  • 2 year 3.909%, +1.4 basis points
  • 5-year 3.999%, +2.6 basis points
  • 10 year 4.251%, +3.8 basis points
  • 30 year 4.581%, +4.2 basis points

In other markets:

  • Crude oil is trading up $0.50 or 0.76% at $66.52.
  • Gold is trading up $27.90 or 0.97% at $2916.26.
  • Silver is trading up $0.69 or 2.17% at $32.75
  • Bitcoin is trading up $3100 $81,744
