With training camp underway, that means the NFL season is right around the corner.
Of course, it wouldn’t be training camp without some contentious contract situations.
Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has requested a trade after so far failing to get a contract extension that will pay $30 million a year.
Details recently emerged about Washington’s most recent offer.
“Stephen A. Smith says that the Commanders are right now offering around $27M APY to WR Terry McLaurin, according to his sources,” Jay Daniels MVP wrote on X.

McLaurin had a career year last season, forming an immediate connection with rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels.
The veteran posted his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season and caught a career-high 13 touchdown passes while playing in all 17 games for the fourth consecutive year.
He also had 227 receiving yards and three touchdowns in Washington’s run to the NFC Championship Game.
On the heels of an outstanding season, it makes sense that McLaurin is aiming to cash in just weeks ahead of his 30th birthday.
McLaurin is heading into the final year of his current contract, and even though he requested a trade, it doesn’t sound like Washington has any interest in moving him.
These situations usually end up with the sides eventually coming to a resolution, and that is the most likely outcome here, though every day McLaurin goes without a new contract has to make fans a bit more uncertain.
