Shedeur Sanders was a heavily debated prospect heading into the 2025 NFL Draft.
Some fans and analysts were all-in on him, believing that he was going to be a first-round pick and a star in the league, while others weren’t so sure that his outlook was all that positive.
Sanders had plenty of highlights during college with Jackson State and Colorado, but people were worried that the off-field baggage would ultimately hinder him.
Analysts like Michael Wilbon and Mel Kiper Jr. are insistent that the NFL was colluding against him, which was a big reason for his slide to the fifth round, but not everyone sees it that way.
Former wide receiver Cris Carter recently provided an alternate viewpoint, as shared by “The Art of Dialogue” on X, saying, “They taught him a great lesson.”

With talk that Sanders purposely tanked some interviews, Carter doesn’t necessarily feel bad for his slide, or that he ended up with the Cleveland Browns.
Sanders lost out on $30-$40 million by falling in the draft, something Carter believes is a lesson that he’ll eventually learn in time.
He can certainly redeem himself with some positive play for the Browns, potentially earning a massive contract down the road.
For now, he’ll be making just over $1 million per season, a strong payday for most Americans, but a disappointing amount of money for someone who was projected to make 40 times that over the first four years of his NFL career, had he been an early first-round pick.
