Cowboys Are Meeting With Pro Bowl Defender Today

The Dallas Cowboys‘ pass rush didn’t do much in Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles.

That’s not a surprise, considering they traded one of the best edge rushers in the game right before the start of the season.

Now, they are turning to a former No. 1 overall pick to address that issue.

“Free agent edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney is in Dallas today to meet with the Cowboys, per league source,” Josina Anderson wrote on X.

Clowney, who rarely lived up to the hype as the top pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans, is coming off a modest year with the Carolina Panthers.

They released him in a salary cap move, and it’s somewhat odd to see him still unsigned.

Granted, he’s not a superstar by any means, but as a three-time Pro Bowler with plenty of experience, he’s the type of pickup that multiple teams could use.

Of course, he’s not going to fill the void left by the Micah Parsons trade, and there’s no such thing as replacing a player of that caliber.

The Cowboys arguably would’ve been better off re-signing their All-Pro franchise player, who said he wanted to be there for the long run.

But now that Parsons is gone, the Cowboys have to get by and figure out the best way to improve their roster.
