The Washington Commanders have agreed a three-year, $96 million extension with wide receiver Terry McLaurin.
McLaurin’s desire for a new contract from Washington had seen him “hold-in”, the two-time Pro Bowler reporting to the team facility but not taking part in team practices.
But a protracted stand-off between McLaurin and the Commanders has now come to an end with the start of Washington’s season under two weeks away.
His new deal pays an average annual salary of $32 million and reportedly includes a $30 million signing bonus.
McLaurin has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL since entering the league as a third-round pick in 2019.
Since finishing his rookie season with 919 receiving yards and seven touchdowns, McLaurin has racked up five successive 1,000-yard seasons. The 2024 campaign saw him score a career-high 13 receiving touchdowns as the Commanders surged to a 12-5 record, reaching the NFC Championship Game in quarterback Jayden Daniels’ rookie year.
The Commanders open their season with a home game against the New York Giants on September 7.
