The Indianapolis Colts sit at 8-2 after their bye week, looking to build momentum against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend. The Colts notched their first win since trading Sauce Gardner in Week 9, with quarterback Daniel Jones executing at a high level and running back Jonathan Taylor producing consistently.
Kansas City enters the matchup at 5-5, searching for stability after an inconsistent season. Indianapolis aims to prevent the Chiefs from reaching six victories and extending their playoff positioning.
The Colts conducted workouts with two wide receivers on Friday as they evaluate depth options at the position. The team previously traded Adonai Mitchell and continues assessing potential practice-squad additions.

Cole Burgess went undrafted in 2024 after leaving Cortland State, where he finished his college career with 87 receptions, 1,375 yards, and 16 touchdowns while winning a national championship. The Cincinnati Bengals signed him as an undrafted free agent, and he spent his entire rookie season on their practice squad before being released during final roster cuts.
In five preseason appearances, Burgess caught five passes for 44 yards. Listed at 6 feet 1 inch and 198 pounds, he worked out for Pittsburgh earlier this week before visiting Indianapolis.
Jaylen Johnson also went undrafted in 2024. The Los Angeles Chargers signed him and used him sparingly during his rookie year, giving him four snaps in Week 8 against New Orleans. He appeared in seven preseason games with seven catches for 90 yards before the Chargers waived him during roster cuts and reached an injury settlement.
Johnson worked out for the New York Giants three weeks ago without getting signed. He spent time at Georgia before finishing his college career at East Carolina. Indianapolis has not signed either receiver at this time.
