Colin Cowherd Reveals A Glaring Issue For Packers

The Green Bay Packers have shown flashes of outstanding play.

However, they’ve also had a worrisome tendency to play down to the level of their opponent.

That has been an ongoing concern under head coach Matt LaFleur, and it’s showing up again this season.

That’s why FOX Sports host Colin Cowherd has some doubts about the team.

“You are still, for the third year in a row, the youngest team in the NFL. In the last two weeks, part of being young is you can’t figure out how to close out games against inferior teams. The [Philadelphia] Eagles, the [Kansas City] Chiefs, the [Los Angeles] Rams, they got veterans. They close out those games. That playoff experience, that wisdom. Green Bay is crazy talented, but Matt LaFleur isn’t a head coach, he’s a chaperone. This roster is full of 24- and 25-year-olds,” Cowherd said.

That lack of experience has been evident at times.

Then again, LaFleur deserves a lot of credit.

First, he had to deal with a defense that often underperformed despite its talent, and he also had to put up with Aaron Rodgers while the quarterback engaged in a cold war with the front office.

Then, LaFleur built his offense around new QB Jordan Love, and it has looked sharp when it’s at its best.

However, Love’s decision-making and late-game management have left a lot to be desired.

It seems like LaFleur is willing to be aggressive when he’s trailing or in the first half, but he’s too conservative down the stretch.

That might be because he knows he’s coaching a young team and doesn’t want them to make mistakes in high-leverage situations.

But whatever the case, young team or not, the Packers have the talent to be a Super Bowl contender, and anything less will be a disappointment.
