Chargers Announce Contract Extension With Key Defender

The Los Angeles Chargers finished the 2024 season with an 11-7 record, which put them in second place in the AFC West.

Jim Harbaugh’s first season with the team was a smashing success by many metrics, bringing the Chargers back to the playoffs.

While they lost their Wild Card game, this was a step in the right direction for a team that won five games the prior season.

The Chargers’ offense is slated to rally around Justin Herbert for the foreseeable future, confident that he possesses the tools to be their leader under center.

Their defense has some strong leaders as well, including OLB Bud Dupree.

Dupree was recently signed to a contract extension, as the team’s X account pointed out, locking down someone who is a stable force on the defensive side of the ball.

Dupree was signed to a two-year deal ahead of the 2024 season, but it seems like the team doesn’t want him to entertain other options over the next year.

Now, they can focus on building around the right players, making sure Harbaugh has the best tools available to succeed as a head coach.

This team has struggled with consistency in many areas, but having players like Dupree and Herbert has helped them stay consistent.

It will be interesting to see how everything shakes out for the Chargers in 2025, along with the rest of the teams in the AFC West.

Will 2025 be the year when a team finds a way to dethrone the Kansas City Chiefs?
