Brian Thomas Jr. Joins Elite Company After Impressive Rookie Year

The Jacksonville Jaguars took a special player in the 2025 NFL Draft.

However, as promising as Travis Hunter is as a wide receiver, he might not be their primary weapon in the passing game.

That distinction should belong to Brian Thomas Jr., who was the best first-year wideout from a 2024 NFL Draft class that included Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers.

As pointed out by Chris O’Brien on X, Thomas joined elite company in his first season.

He was one of just four players with at least 1,200 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns as a rookie, joining Randy Moss, Odell Beckham Jr. and Ja’Marr Chase.

Judging by this list, it seems like LSU has become the ultimate wide receiver school, with Thomas, Beckham and Chase having played there.

The Jaguars now have another elite target for quarterback Trevor Lawrence.

With Hunter on one side and Thomas doing his thing, head coach Liam Coen should have plenty to work with in his first season.

Lawrence has shown flashes of being the star quarterback he was in college, but he hasn’t been able to string good seasons together in the NFL, and Coen will have his work cut out to bring the best out of him, like he did with Baker Mayfield as offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

A special player like Thomas will certainly make things easier.
