The Braves are reuniting with old friend Charlie Morton. He will join the team on Tuesday. Manager Brian Snitker shared the news with Mark Bowman of MLB.com, Gabe Burns of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and David O’Brien of The Athletic. Morton had been designated for assignment by the Tigers in recent days. MLBTR has learned that Morton will sign with Atlanta as a free agent, which suggests he cleared waivers. Bowman suggests it’s possible the club has brought Morton aboard to retire as a Brave. It’s also undetermined whether he will pitch for the club in the remainder of the season. Atlanta will have to open a 40-man roster spot to officially bring Morton aboard.
More to come.
