Ben Johnson Has Honest Admission About Bears’ New Defender

The Chicago Bears have had to deal with multiple injuries this season.

Their secondary is decimated, which is why they recently acquired C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

Following the addition of the well-traveled safety, head coach Ben Johnson had a blunt admission about their desperate need for help.

“We’ve had some injuries over the course of the last few weeks. We have an opportunity, and he was available. He’s a good football player. There’s a number of us that have been with him in the past. It’s a good fit,” Johnson said.

Gardner-Johnson is familiar with Bears defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who coached him with the New Orleans Saints.

Things reportedly didn’t end well there, but at this point, they have to move on and figure it out.

The Bears are Gardner-Johnson’s third team of the season, so he won’t have many more opportunities if he burns this bridge as well.

The Philadelphia Eagles traded him to the Houston Texans after he had six interceptions during their Super Bowl-winning season.

His stay was short-lived, as he was let go after reportedly rubbing some people in the organization the wrong way.

He then signed with the Baltimore Ravens’ practice squad but asked to be released.

He’s 27 years old and has been a very productive player, but he has ruffled a lot of feathers around the league.

The Bears are looking to build on some recent momentum and get back on track after a tough Week 8 loss to the Ravens.

Hopefully, bolstering their banged-up secondary with a Super Bowl champion will give them the boost they need.
