Bellingham and Mbappe on target

Madrid put pressure on their arch rivals.

Real Madrid moved within a point of Barcelona at the top of LaLiga as they saw off Sevilla 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid had lost their last two home games, suffering defeats to Celta Vigo and Manchester City prior to away wins over Alaves and Talavera, the latter in the Copa del Rey.

And they were unconvincing for long periods against a Sevilla side that stunned Barcelona earlier in the season and created plenty of chances in Saturday’s tight encounter.

Jude Bellingham broke the deadlock with a first-half header, and Madrid saw several opportunities to extend the lead go begging.

The dismissal of Marcao for a second bookable offence made Madrid’s task easier, and Kylian Mbappe’s late penalty made sure of the points.
