Bears Could Unleash D.J. Moore in Surprising New Role

The Chicago Bears haven’t been known for their offensive prowess.

However, that could all be about to change.

They hired the most sought-after offensive playcaller in this year’s hiring cycle, and it looks like Ben Johnson is ready to bring his trickery to the Windy City.

As reported by Courtney Cronin, the Bears have had star WR D.J. Moore come out of the backfield multiple times in training camp.

Moore is a speedy pass-catcher, and having him also get touches at running back would help unleash another layer for this team.

The Bears’ running backs corps isn’t necessarily impressive, and while it’s highly unlikely that Moore will get a lot of touches in the backfield, having him moving around the line of scrimmage will force opposing defenses to keep guessing and pick their poison.

In an ideal scenario, the Bears could deploy them like their very own version of Deebo Samuel when he was the primary focus of the offense in San Francisco, but they might not want to put him through that kind of wear and tear.

Whatever the case, one thing’s for sure: The Bears’ offense will feature way more trickery and deception than in years past, although it’s not like the bar is very high.

They have a much-improved offensive line, and all eyes will be on Caleb Williams in his second year in the league.

It won’t be easy to turn the narrative around, but fortunately, he has more than enough weapons at his disposal.
