Bayern Munich v Paris Saint-Germain: Line-ups, stats and preview

Bayern Munich welcome Paris Saint-Germain to the Allianz Arena on Wednesday night for the second leg of their Champions League semi-final.

The first meeting between the two sides was an instant Champions League classic, with PSG edging a chaotic 5-4 win in Paris to take a narrow advantage into Germany.

Despite trailing by three goals at one stage, Bayern mounted a late comeback to keep the tie alive, ensuring everything remains to play for with a place in the final at stake.

Vincent Kompany’s side will feel they have every chance of turning things around on home soil, particularly given their formidable recent record against PSG in Munich.

However, history is not particularly kind to Bayern in this situation, having only once overturned a first-leg defeat in a European semi-final.

Their domestic form has also been slightly shaky in recent weeks, with a dramatic 3-3 draw against Heidenheim following the defeat in Paris, leaving them without a win in back-to-back matches for the first time this season.

The Ligue 1 champions have also been excellent away from home, winning each of their last six matches on the road while keeping clean sheets in five of those outings.

PSG will know the job is far from done, though, especially against a Bayern side that have consistently produced goals at the Allianz Arena and rarely struggle to create chances in front of their own supporters.

Team news for Bayern Munich vs Paris Saint-Germain

Bayern are expected to restore several key players after rotating in the Bundesliga at the weekend.

Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano, Alphonso Davies, Joshua Kimmich, Michael Olise and Harry Kane should all return to the starting lineup after beginning on the bench against Heidenheim.

Serge Gnabry and Raphael Guerreiro remain unavailable through injury, while teenager Lennart Karl is pushing to be involved after recovering from a thigh issue.

PSG have suffered a major setback ahead of the second leg with Achraf Hakimi ruled out after sustaining a hamstring injury in the first leg.

His absence is expected to force a defensive reshuffle, with Warren Zaire-Emery likely to drop deeper.

Lucas Chevalier is also unavailable, but Luis Enrique otherwise has a near full-strength squad to choose from, with Kvaratskhelia aiming to continue his outstanding European campaign.
