Aaron Rodgers Gets Honest About New Steelers Helmet

Aaron Rodgers has been in the National Football League for more than two decades.

It’s fair to say that a lot has changed ever since.

Notably, that includes his helmet of choice, which was recently banned by the league.

And even though it might sound simple or even dumb, he’s having a tough time getting by and getting used to a new one.

When asked about this situation, the former Super Bowl champion was as honest as he usually is about the Pittsburgh Steelers‘ helmet.

“I don’t like it, no,” Rodgers said of the Steelers’ new helmet. “I’m trying to change. We’re in the process still. It looks like a damn spaceship out there. We got to change it. The face mask doesn’t fit the helmet because that’s an old face mask, obviously just like I’m old, but we’re trying to find the right helmet right now.”

The NFL’s annual laboratory testing banned the Schutt Air XP Pro Q11 LTD, the 2012 version of Rodgers’ preferred helmet.

He shifted to the Schutt Air XP Pro VTD II, but he’s clearly not happy.

Hopefully, that won’t take a toll on his game.

Rodgers hasn’t been at his best since he left the Green Bay Packers, and with this potentially being his final year in the pros, it would be a shame to see it go to waste over something like a helmet.

He could be in for a bounce-back season after a disappointing tenure with the New York Jets, and while the Steelers’ offense has also drawn some questions over the years, his championship chances should be higher under Mike Tomlin’s guidance.

The Steelers have high aspirations for their future Hall of Famer, and they’ve made big moves to make sure he has the supporting cast he needs to be at his best before riding into the sunset.

What they can’t give him, however, is his former helmet.
