Mike Vrabel Reveals Stefon Diggs’ Week 1 Status

The New England Patriots rolled the dice on Stefon Diggs this offseason.

They went after the veteran wide receiver after failing to land Chris Godwin Jr. and Tee Higgins.

That was a bit of a gamble, given Diggs’ age and the fact that he was coming off a season-ending knee injury with the Houston Texans.

However, the Patriots always sounded confident in his recovery and availability for the season opener.

Now, head coach Mike Vrabel has all but made it official.

As reported by insider Doug Kyed, Vrabel confirmed that Diggs will play when New England hosts the Las Vegas Raiders.

“As of today, he’ll be out there,” Vrabel said.

Not so long ago, Diggs was one of the most reliable pass catchers in the NFL.

The 31-year-old may have lost a step after suffering his injury, but he should be Drake Maye’s No. 1 target in the quarterback’s first full season as a starter.

The Patriots are looking to get back to playoff contention.

It’s been a while since they’ve been a powerhouse, and owner Robert Kraft has made it clear that he’s tired of waiting for another Super Bowl appearance.

The organization spent plenty of money in the offseason and added some prime players in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Yet, it might still be a while before they return to their championship-winning ways.

Even so, surrounding their promising quarterback with the supporting cast he needs to succeed will get them closer to that goal.

Whether Diggs can live up to those expectations after a lengthy absence remains to be seen.
