The Tennessee Titans are getting ready to start a new era.
Cam Ward is about to take the field, hoping to lead the franchise back to contention.
Likewise, the team also has high hopes for him, which is why he was named as one of their captains ahead of the season, according to ESPN insider Adam Schefter:
“Titans announced that rookie No. 1 overall pick Cam Ward is one of seven team captains this season,” Schefter posted on X.

The Titans fell in love with Ward as soon as they met with him, letting everybody know that he was going to be off-limits in any potential trade talk.
They chose to hold onto the No. 1 selection, thinking that Ward was the type of player who could turn the franchise around.
That’s not just because of his impressive physical attributes and talents, but also because of his personality and work ethic.
He’s been the first guy on the field and the last to leave the facility since he arrived in Music City.
Of course, it hasn’t all been smooth, as he also got into a bit of an altercation with veteran DT Jeffery Simmons and also made a couple of controversial statements in training camp, but that’s just a part of the process.
Ward has a perennial underdog mentality, and he knows he hasn’t accomplished anything in the league just yet.
As a not-so-touted recruit who had to earn his bread and butter in college, he continues to have that competitive drive and endless thirst for self-improvement.
That’s the type of person who can light a spark in an organization.
