This was Starship’s eighth test mission:

• 8 minutes or so into the flight the upper-stage Starship vehicle spun uncontrollably
• several engines appeared to cut off
• it then appeared to have exploded

In better news for the mission, the Super Heavy booster successfully returned to its launch site and settled onto the tower’s robotic arms.

It does seem that the troubles for Starship have coincided with Musk dropping away from SpaceX for his new job as a bureaucrat in Washington. Tesla, same.
