Chelsea have sold midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka to Borussia Dortmund for a reported fee of £24m.

The 21-year-old spent the second half of last season with the Bundesliga giants and leaves Stamford Bridge having made just four Premier League starts since joining from Aston Villa in 2022.

Chukwuemeka scored on his only Bundesliga start for Dortmund last April, in a 4-1 win at Freiburg, and signs a permanent deal on the same as manager Nico Kovac extended his contract until 2027.

“We feel that we can achieve something special here together with the club and the fans,” the 53-year-old coach said.

“The conversations we have had over the last few weeks have reinforced my conviction that, building on our achievements so far, we can deliver long-term success at this club. Our aim is to play our part in getting Borussia back to where it used to be.”
