Former Scout Calls For Colts To Trade Anthony Richardson

The Indianapolis Colts find themselves at a crossroads with Anthony Richardson’s future as their franchise quarterback.

Some have voiced strong support for Richardson, pushing the team to name him the starter despite growing fan interest in newly acquired Daniel Jones.

However, former New York Jets scout Daniel Kelly has taken a completely different approach.

Kelly delivered harsh criticism of both Richardson and how the organization has handled his development.

“Nobody has held the Colts back more as an organization than Anthony Richardson since he was overdrafted. They need to trade him for whatever they can get ASAP. That would be my recommendation. All anyone has to do is look at the last two years filled with injuries and a 50.6% completion percentage to predict the future with 100% accuracy. He couldn’t even feel an open-face blitz in his last outing. It’s over,” Daniel Kelly wrote on X.

Richardson has shown glimpses of his elite athleticism and arm talent since entering the league.

But injuries and inconsistent play have derailed much of his development. His completion percentage sits at just over 50 percent through his first two seasons.

Daniel Jones arrived in Indianapolis after his release from the New York Giants. He has used Richardson’s absences to gain valuable reps and create genuine competition for the starting job.

The Colts organization now faces a difficult choice as training camp progresses. Kelly believes they should cut their losses and trade Richardson while he still holds some value.

Meanwhile, supporters like Dakich argue the young quarterback deserves more time to develop his raw talent.

Indianapolis must decide whether to continue investing in Richardson’s potential or pivot to a different solution at the position.

The outcome will likely shape the franchise’s direction for years to come.
