Japan prime minister Ishiba insists that there is no discrepancy on 15% tariffs rate

Ishiba is now requesting that the US make amendments to its executive orders on tariffs for Japan. That as both sides are said to agree that the 15% tariffs rate is a ceiling, and not to be stacked on top of already existing levies. For some context, this was the confusion earlier in the day that led to the yen falling from around 147.05 to 147.70 for a brief period.

Clearly, the two sides are having different interpretations of their framework agreement. Well, it wouldn’t be the first time involving a deal with Trump. *coughs in 2019 Phase One trade deal*
