Wrexham have signed Leicester City defender Conor Coady after reaching an agreement on a transfer fee, believed to be in the region of £2 million.
The 32-year-old centre-back completed his medical on Friday morning ahead of the move.
The switch is seen as another statement of intent from Wrexham ahead of their return to the Championship – their first season in the division for 43 years.
This summer has already been a busy one for the club, who twice broke their own transfer record: initially by signing Liberato Cacace from Empoli and then again with the capture of Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien.
Wrexham could yet shatter that record once more, with talks ongoing over an ambitious £7.5m bid for Ipswich Town forward Nathan Broadhead.
The club are also looking to add another Welsh international, Kieffer Moore, from Sheffield United.
Coady brings top-flight pedigree with 198 Premier League appearances to his name, many of those as Wolves captain during a period that saw them finish seventh twice and make the Europa League quarter-finals.
The experienced defender has also represented England 10 times and was part of Gareth Southgate’s squads for both Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup.
He has one year remaining on his contract with Leicester.
