The White House has responded to comments from North Korea:

Trump is not backing down to this. The White House says Trump remains open to engaging with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to fully end the North’s nuclear program.

Allowing North Korea to become a nuclear armed power would not be a positive for stability in the region. I wonder if Kim is eyeing Trump’s bombing of Iran. Of course he is.
