Insider Names Drake Maye’s Favorite Targets

The New England Patriots entered their 2025 training camp with clear intentions.

They want to develop second-year quarterback Drake Maye while building offensive stability around him.

New head coach Mike Vrabel and returning offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels have made those priorities obvious through their early approach.

The Patriots added a veteran wide receiver to give Maye a proven target, and a returning player has also stepped up as a reliable option.

“Stefon Diggs and DeMario Douglas were easily Drake Maye’s favorite targets today, continuing an early theme this summer,” 32 Beat Writers wrote on X.

Maye looks more comfortable than he did during his challenging rookie campaign.

Diggs has made an immediate impact despite returning from ACL surgery just eight months ago. He caught Maye’s first two completions of camp.

His experience shows on short and intermediate routes where precision matters most.

Douglas is building on his team-leading receiving performance from last season, and his quickness from the slot creates a natural complement to Diggs on the outside.

Rookie Kyle Williams has shown promise with contested catches and solid run-after-catch skills.

But Diggs and Douglas have established themselves as Maye’s most trusted options, and this foundation should help the Patriots build the offensive consistency they need.
