Broncos Make Big Contract Move With Rookie Defender

The Denver Broncos have signed their first-round selection from the 2025 NFL Draft, defensive back Jahdae Barron.

The Texas product secured his rookie contract less than 24 hours before he had to report to training camp.

“The Broncos and No. 20 pick CB Jahdae Barron have agreed to terms on his rookie deal, per Mike Klis. It’s four years, $18.05 [million] with a $9.8M signing bonus,” Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

Barron will join one of the best secondaries in the NFL, led by reigning Defensive Player of the Year Patrick Surtain II.

Barron had 67 combined tackles, 11 passes defended and five interceptions in his final college season, earning the Jim Thorpe Award in the process.

This leaves Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman Shemar Stewart as the only unsigned first-round pick.

Stewart hasn’t taken the field at any point in offseason practices because of his contract dispute.

He refused to sign his rookie deal because of language related to the potential voiding of future guaranteed money.

He claims that he’s not even asking for anything special, that he just wants his contract to be like the ones the Bengals gave other first-round selections in the past.

In perhaps the most overlooked storyline of the offseason, 30 of the 32 second-round picks have yet to sign their respective contracts, so it’ll be interesting to see how this situation unfolds as training camps begin.
