RBA's Bullock: Our communication strategy is not failing

  • Being cautious has paid off well for us
  • We put out plenty of information in a timely manner
  • The narrative now is much easier to follow, there’s so much information available
  • I’m trying to talk to the public to help them understand
  • Markets have many other things they can look at to decide for themselves

She refused to answer whether or not the RBA defied their own recommendation of making better communication to markets, and then was just a bit defensive in making the above comments. On whether the RBA has been silent or not really providing much clarity, she just says “we’re out there all the time”. All in all, I would say her answers are as you’d expect. People want to be baiting her for the drama but she’s not going to admit any mistakes surely.
