US factory orders for May 8.2% versus 8.2% estimate

  • Durable goods Revision 16.4% vs +16.4% advanced. Last month 6.6%
  • Durable goods ex Defense 15.5% vs 15.5% advanced. Last month -7.7%
  • Durable good ex transportation 0.5% vs 0.5% advanced. Last month 0.0%.
  • Non Defense cap goods, ex Air 1.7% vs 1.7% advanced. Last month -1.4%
  • Factory Orders ex Transporttion 0.2% vs -0.5% last month revised to -0.6%
  • Shipments, up following two consecutive monthly decreases, increased $0.7 billion or 0.1 percent to $599.4 billion. This followed a 0.3 percent April decrease.
  • Unfilled orders, up ten of the last eleven months, increased $47.7 billion or 3.4 percent to $1,455.4 billion.

The data came in as expected with is no changes in the durable goods preliminary data which is weird especially given the sharp rise in durable goods orders from their preliminary report.

Nevertheless, the data shows that transportation including airlines and autos orders were probably impacted by tariffs or perspective tariffs.
