Griekspoor Claims Third Title in Mallorca

Tallon Griekspoor hit his way into history in Mallorca today.

The 28-year-old Griekspoor conquered Corentin Moutet 7-5, 7-6(3) to collect his third career title—and become the oldest champion in Mallorca Championships history.

Griekspoor Claims Third Title in Mallorca

Griekspoor, who celebrates his 29th birthday on Wednesday, hit four aces and saved all four break points he faced in a one hour, 56-minute victory.

It is Griekspoor’s second career grass-court crown coming after he won the 2023 ‘s-Hertogenbosch crown. Griekspoor joins Tom Okker, Wimbledon champion Richard Krajicek and Sjeng Schalken as the fourth Dutchman to win multiple grass-court championships in the Open Era.

The fourth-seeded Griekspoor did not drop a set in four tournament wins, including a 6-4, 6-4 sweep of second-seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime in yesterday’s semifinals.

Contesting his second ATP final and first since he lost to Andrey Rublev in the 2020 Doha final, Moutet smacked six aces and saved three of four break points.

Griekspoor won’t have much time to celebrate this third title. On Monday, he is scheduled to face Eastbourne finalist Jenson Brooksby on Court 14 in his Wimbledon opener.
