Ian Rapoport Believes 1 Giants QB Has Impressed Brian Daboll

The New York Giants needed a new quarterback this season.

They tried to get Matthew Stafford and reportedly inquired about Aaron Rodgers before ultimately signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson.

Neither is an appealing long-term option, so they had to find someone for the future.

With that in mind, they traded back into the first round to select Jaxson Dart in the 2025 NFL Draft, and though he’s a long shot to start in Week 1, it seems like he’s made a strong impression already.

According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Giants head coach Brian Daboll is quite high on the rookie and is showing how much he’s impressed with him.

“When the topic is Jaxson Dart, Brian Daboll really changes. Doesn’t really hide how much he thinks of the rookie quarterback that they drafted this year. It is clear that this is Brian Daboll’s guy. After years and years of running out not his guy, he gets his guy. When you listen to everything Brian Daboll says, you get an understanding of how far along Jaxson Dart is and where he thinks he’s going to go. [When] you see Brian Daboll’s offense with the quarterback he wants, it’s going to really, really be fascinating to see,” Rapoport said.

Dart was one of the most intriguing prospects in this year’s unimpressive quarterback class.

He showed some appealing traits that made some scouts feel he may have the highest upside among all the QBs entering the league.

The Giants will most likely lean on Wilson to start the season, and maybe even for the entire campaign, but they hope that Dart can take the reins after him.

Daboll might be on the hot seat, and he may need to get the team to the playoffs to get the benefit of the doubt for another season and reap what he’s sowing with Dart.

If not, the Giants will have to bring a head coach who also believes in Dart as their future.
