Stat Shows How T.J. Watt Has Dominated In Past 5 Seasons

The Pittsburgh Steelers have one of the best pass rushers in the game.

T.J. Watt and Myles Garrett have gone back and forth for that distinction year in and year out, and most people will agree that they rank No. 1 and No. 2, regardless of the order.

Watt’s numbers are mesmerizing, especially considering that he’s missed some time with injuries.

That was evident again in a graphic shared by FOX Sports: NFL on X, which pointed out that Watt sits atop the entire league with the most sacks in the past five seasons.

He’s logged a whopping 73.5 sacks in 74 games, 1.5 more than Garrett despite playing six fewer games.

Then again, context also matters.

Garrett often deals with double and triple teams, whereas the Steelers’ stacked defense often gives Watt a wide-open look at the opposing quarterback.

Even so, Watt’s instincts, raw power, and athleticism also help his case.

There were rumors about the Steelers considering trading their superstar OLB this offseason.

Still, just like what happened with Garrett and the Cleveland Browns, teams often refuse to move on from their future Hall of Famers.

While he hasn’t won a championship, Watt might go down as the greatest defensive player in Steelers history, and that’s a lot to say, given their rich history of elite stoppers.
