The Pittsburgh Steelers have a new quarterback.
That would’ve been great news years ago, but adding Aaron Rodgers to the mix has been controversial, to say the least.
That’s why, as high as head coach Mike Tomlin is on his new starting QB, analyst Andrew Fillipponi isn’t so sure.
With that in mind, Fillipponi took to social media to point out the many mistakes Tomlin has made in evaluating quarterbacks in recent years, from his trust in Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph all the way to drafting Kenny Pickett and using Russell Wilson over Justin Fields.
“I don’t trust Tomlin’s QB opinions,” Fillipponi wrote on X.
Mike Tomlin’s quarterback evaluations post Big Ben:
-Signed Trubisky to be QB1
-Drafted Pickett to be franchise QB
-Demoted Rudolph to 3rd string
-Made Russ push sled at camp
-Benched Fields w/ 4-2 record
-Never benched Russell WilsonI don’t trust Tomlin’s QB opinions. pic.twitter.com/Qi15USzFAu

That’s fair, and the Steelers’ quarterback situation has been a talking point for too long now.
Then again, if someone has earned the benefit of the doubt, that should be Tomlin.
Granted, Rodgers hasn’t looked like a four-time NFL MVP candidate in recent years, but it hasn’t been entirely his fault.
Of course, his age will also be a concern, and even if the 41-year-old manages to turn back the clock and play like he did for the Green Bay Packers, he will be a short-term solution for Pittsburgh.
However, he’s a likely Hall of Famer playing the most crucial position in team sports, and he’s arguably better than some starters in the NFL, even at his age.
In addition, he’s the best player the Steelers have had at quarterback since Ben Roethlisberger was in his prime.
