Lions Sign Former Texans LB

The Detroit Lions had one of the most disappointing endings to a season in recent NFL history.

That’s why they will leave no stone unturned to make amends next season.

With that in mind, they added another veteran to their defense.

According to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Lions signed LB Zach Cunningham ahead of the start of OTAs.

Cunningham entered the league as a second-round pick in 2017.

So far, he’s had stops with the Houston Texans, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia Eagles, and Denver Broncos.

During that span, he’s made 102 appearances (86 starts).

He became a perennial starter in Philadelphia, logging 85 tackles, four passes defended, and a fumble recovery in his lone season in the City of Brotherly Love.

Then, he was mostly a non-factor in Denver, spending most of the season on the practice squad.

He was called up for the final seven games of the campaign, but he was only on the field for 41 special team snaps and 15 defensive snaps.

Needless to say, he will have his work cut out for him to make the roster and take the field in Detroit.

The Lions will kick off OTAs on Friday, and he’ll have an opportunity to prove why they should at the very least look to keep him around in the practice squad.
