Insider Reveals Roger Goodell Has ‘Personal Crusade’ This Offseason

The Philadelphia Eagles have built quite a reputation in recent seasons as one of the NFL’s most feared short-yardage teams.

Their secret weapon is a powerful quarterback sneak, known across the league as the “Tush Push.” It showcases Jalen Hurts driving forward with remarkable strength while his teammates provide the crucial push from behind.

But this effective offensive tactic might soon disappear from the NFL, as its remarkable effectiveness has sparked debate about its place in the game.

NFL insider Matt Lombardo recently revealed some behind-the-scenes information about the league’s stance on the controversial play.

“This is Roger Goodell’s personal crusade of the offseason, to get rid of the Tush Push. I’m told that the league wants this done. They want it voted out. They want it banned,” Lombardo said, via Paul Andrew Edsen Jr.

According to Lombardo, the proposal under consideration hasn’t changed, suggesting the league is taking another shot at eliminating the play rather than modifying it.

What makes this situation particularly interesting is just how successful the play has proven to be for the Eagles, in particular.

The NFL competition committee previously explored banning the play and discussions appear to be heating up again.

The Eagles have perfected this short-yardage strategy to near automatic success.

Even on rare occasions when the initial attempt fails, they often run it again with positive results.

While banning the play might seem like a straightforward solution, Lombardo raises an interesting question about whether the real advantage lies in Philadelphia’s execution rather than the play itself.

The combination of Hurts’ physical power and the blocking scheme might be what truly makes the difference.
