Vikings Signed 2 Players On Monday

The Minnesota Vikings wrapped up their rookie tryouts last weekend, giving about 20 undrafted players a chance to showcase their talents.

Among the hopefuls looking to catch the coaching staff’s eye, two defensive prospects managed to stand out from the crowd and land contracts with the team.

The Minnesota Vikings made it official on Monday, bringing aboard outside linebacker Matt Harmon and defensive lineman Elijah Williams.

“The #Vikings have signed OLB Matt Harmon and DL Elijah Williams,” the team announced.

Both players now face the challenge of competing for spots on the final 53-man roster as summer training camp approaches.

Kentrell Harmon brings considerable college experience to the Minnesota Vikings’ defensive unit.

Standing at an impressive 6’6″ and weighing 240 pounds, the 25-year-old linebacker spent seven years at Kent State, playing in 49 games during a college career extended by injuries and the COVID season.

After showing promise in 2021, Harmon truly hit his stride last season when he recorded 56 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and two sacks.

His immediate goal is carving out a role with the Vikings, likely as a depth option at outside linebacker while contributing on special teams.

The Vikings also welcomed Elijah Williams, a 22-year-old defensive lineman from FCS Morgan State.

Williams proved himself a disruptive force in college, amassing 31 sacks and 52 tackles for loss across 42 games.

His senior season was particularly notable with 11 sacks. Despite being considered slightly undersized for a defensive tackle at 6’2″ and 285 pounds, Williams turned heads with his athleticism during the HBCU Legacy Bowl.

While Harmon and Williams earned their contracts through strong performances, other notable names like Maine’s Montigo Moss and Nebraska’s Tommi Hill left the tryouts without deals from the Minnesota Vikings.
