Colts Have Re-Signed Veteran TE

The Indianapolis Colts’ front office has begun methodically assembling its roster for the upcoming campaign, prioritizing smart, strategic moves over headline-grabbing signings.

The Colts made their first significant retention move recently, securing one of their most durable and reliable contributors.

After testing the free agency waters, a familiar face has decided that Indianapolis remains his football home.

“We have re-signed TE Mo Alie-Cox,” the team announced through their official channels, delivering news that brings both continuity and stability to the tight end room.

Mo Alie-Cox’s journey with the Indianapolis Colts represents one of those underappreciated NFL success stories.

Since joining as an undrafted free agent in 2017, the former VCU basketball standout has transformed himself into a valuable offensive weapon.

His seven-season tenure includes 108 game appearances with 47 starts, accumulating 114 receptions, 1,433 yards, and 15 touchdowns.

Perhaps most remarkably, he hasn’t missed a single game over the past four seasons—a testament to his durability in a punishing sport.

Though his receiving production has declined in recent years, Alie-Cox’s overall value remains substantial.

During the 2024 campaign, he started 13 games while appearing in all 17, contributing 147 yards and a touchdown on 12 catches.

His true calling card, however, is his blocking prowess. In an offense heavily featuring Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor’s ground game, Alie-Cox’s physical presence at the point of attack proved invaluable.

The veteran’s return provides much-needed stability to a position group that includes Drew Ogletree, Will Mallory, Jelani Woods, Albert Okwuegbunam, and Sean McKeon.

While Alie-Cox strengthens the unit’s overall floor, challenges remain. The Indianapolis Colts have searched for consistent pass-catching production from their tight ends for several seasons without finding a true difference-maker.
