The Dodgers visited the White House on Monday, but it was Donald Trump who appeared to be the most awestruck person in the building … as he fanboyed out over Shohei Ohtani.
The L.A. slugger and the rest of the Boys in Blue cruised out to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue just a few hours before their game with the Nationals to celebrate their 2024 World Series title … and Trump was clearly enamored with the team’s Japanese two-way player.
Trump called Shohei out by name during his speech about the Dodgers’ big year … praising him for his one-of-a-kind 50-50 season.
At one point, he paused his words to shake Ohtani’s hand … and he glowed in the immediate aftermath of their interaction.
“He looks like a movie star!” Trump said.
Donald, of course, shouted out a few other players too … including Max Muncy, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tommy Edman, Freddie Freeman, Kike Hernandez, Teoscar Hernandez and Blake Treinen.
He also showed love to Mookie Betts — who famously declined a trip to Trump’s White House in 2019 when he was a member of the 2018 champion Red Sox — calling him an “unbelievable” baseball player.
“I watched him when he was on Boston,” Trump said. “I didn’t think that was a particularly good trade when” the Red Sox dealt him to L.A., “and I happened to be right.”
Trump also had some compliments for Clayton Kershaw, who ended up gifting POTUS with a customized No. 47 Trump Dodgers jersey.
