James Cook Makes A Telling Move Amid His Contract Situation

The tension between James Cook and the Buffalo Bills continues to grow with neither side showing signs of compromise.

Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane recently took a firm stance, declaring that the team won’t engage in negotiations with Cook until after the 2025 NFL Draft.

Cook, however, remains steadfast in his pursuit of a top-tier running back contract, and his recent actions demonstrate how committed he is to securing his financial demands.

“Uh Oh: Bills Pro Bowl RB James Cook has listed his Orchard Park house for sale. Cook is looking for a $15M per year extension. Buffalo has made it clear they will not pay that (via Nick Veronica of News 4 Buffalo),” Dov Kleiman wrote on X.

Beane confirmed that discussions with Cook’s representatives took place at the NFL’s annual meeting.

Those conversations did not develop into meaningful progress, however, causing Buffalo to redirect attention toward other players.

With the draft approaching and salary cap constraints taking priority, Beane clarified that no immediate agreements are forthcoming.

For the moment, the Bills have moved forward, focusing on building their roster through the draft rather than continuing negotiations with Cook.

The Bills now face a significant contract challenge.

While the organization evaluates its options, time is running short. Failure to secure an agreement could lead the situation in a concerning direction, prompting difficult discussions about Cook’s future with the team.

Should the standoff persist, Cook might find himself elsewhere when next season begins.
