US stocks close sharply lower.

The major US stock indices fell sharply today with the NASDAQ leading the way with a decline of -2.38%. Chips stocks were hit hard. Meta was also sharply lower with a decline of -7.92%. Nvidia fell -4.16%, Broadcom fell -2.95%, Micron fell -6.97%, Intel fell -6.53%, AMD fell -7.96%.

The Nasdaq index is now down -10.87% from the all time high. From the end of year, the index is down -7.89%.

Or the magnificent 7 – renamed the Miserable 7 in a report today – the YTD shows:

  • Microsoft -24.37%.
  • Tesla -17.26%
  • Meta -17.05%
  • Alphabet -10.24%
  • Amazon -10.09%
  • Nvidia -0.17%
  • Apple -6.97%

Looking at the other indices today, the S&P index fell -1.74%, and the Dow industrial average is down -1.01%.

US President Donald Trump said the U.S. was unsure whether it would be able to or was willing to make a peace deal with Iran. Crude oil prices are trading up near $3 on the day at $93.60. It’s high price traded as high as $95.44. The low price was at $89.51.

Gas prices are approaching $4 on average according to AAA.
