Cristiano Ronaldo has travelled to Madrid to undergo treatment on a hamstring injury that is “more serious than expected”, according to the Al-Nassr head coach.
Ronaldo was substituted during his side’s 3-1 victory over Al-Fayha last weekend with a suspected injury to his right hamstring, having earlier missed a penalty.
Publicly available flight radar data then appeared to show the Portugal captain’s private jet landing in the Spanish capital overnight on Monday, with the 41-year-old initially thought to be facing up to a month on the sidelines.
However, Al-Nassr boss Jorge Jesus has revealed that his captain’s injury may be more serious than first thought.
“After tests, we see the injury suffered by Cristiano Ronaldo was more serious than expected”, Jesus said.
“Cristiano will now travel to Spain, like other players who went for treatment when they were injured.
“His injury required treatment in Madrid with his personal therapist, and we hope he returns quickly and helps the team.”

It could mean Ronaldo could miss much of Al-Nassr’s end of season run-in, with the club currently top of the Saudi Pro League, two points clear of Al-Ahli and three ahead of Al-Hilal.
The injury may also cast some doubt over his chances of playing at this summer’s World Cup in the US, Mexico and Canada, which starts in June.
Al-Nassr host NEOM on Saturday hoping to make it 13 wins in a row in all competitions.
The US-Israeli strikes against Iran, and the subsequent widening of the conflict in the Middle East, has sparked fears of a halt to the Saudi top-flight.
Various sites in the country have been the target of Iranian attacks, however, the league have opted to continue for now.
