On Wednesday night, five exciting NHL matchups will kick-off across five divisions with all-Canadian matchups featuring Winnipeg Jets facing Edmonton Oilers as reigning Western Conference Champs; Canucks taking on Calgary Flames as their opponents; Winnipeg Jets playing Montreal Canadians etc. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs aim to reignite their rivalry with Montreal Canadiens as part of a 769th all-time meeting between their teams. South of the border, fans can look forward to thrilling matchups between Pittsburgh and Rangers as the Penguins host, while Avalanche face Vegas Golden Knights for Avy Cup supremacy. Our season started off well, posting an impressive 2-1 record highlighted by Pavel Zacha’s goal extending his site record of being picked 5-0 times in our Best Bets selections! As we build on last season’s success and start 2019 strong, all betting lines from Bet365 may change without warning. Hockey can be difficult to predict accurately so please gamble responsibly when betting.Bet: Canadiens Under 2.5 Goals (+120). With such an inexperienced squad at their disposal, Montreal could look forward to scoring early wins over longtime foe Toronto this season. Toronto has notched five straight victories over Montreal thanks to a stellar defensive effort. Montreal has managed just three goals against Toronto during their past eight match-ups; The Maple Leafs may now have their goaltending issues under control with Stanley Cup Champion Anthony Stolarz as backup to Joseph Woll – the favored franchise netminder if anything. Toronto’s starting goaltender has only made one career appearance against Montreal; during this start he managed an outstanding 29 saves out of 30 shots for an emphatic 5-1 win. The 26-year-old Missourian has struggled to remain healthy over his short NHL career but has proven his worth when in action. Woll boasts a 2.69 goal against average in his 14 appearances to date; any outlier games were against prolific offenses like Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning or Boston Bruins. Bet: Evgeni Malkin Under 0.5 points (+120). Malkin finished last season strong with 11 points in nine games before turning 38 this summer and now enters this one at 38 years old. Malkin finished last season with only 67 points despite playing in every game – marking his lowest average per game average (0.82). His age may finally be taking its toll and going against a Rangers team in whom he has yet to record any points for five straight games is certainlyn’t helping matters. New York was among the best defensive teams last season with the seventh-best team goals against average (2.76) while Malkin has struggled due to having less capable teammates around him. His scoring numbers remained solid, finishing the year with 27 goals – in line with previous year. Unfortunately, however, assists had seen a drastic reduction from 56 to 40 year over year. As Malkin gets older, his supporting cast may no longer provide him with enough points to maintain consistency, leading him to favour under as an option. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman recently highlighted on his 32 Thoughts podcast that the Flames organization are entering this season with the understanding that they likely won’t make playoffs. They will enter this season with that mindset against a Vancouver Canucks squad which took Edmonton Oilers all the way to game seven in their playoff series and came very close to ending their run to the Stanley Cup final in the second round. Vancouver enters this season on an impressive streak and could emerge as one of the premier Stanley Cup contenders. Vancouver enters this season brimming with talent that could propel it toward glory in 2016-17. Friedman added in his podcast later on that this Canucks team might well pull it off, making this betting line very intriguing. Any team can win on any given night; but in four out of the last five matches between these teams the Canucks have come away victorious four times with two victories being decided by two goals or more victories. Vancouver was also among the best teams against the puck line last season with a 51-43 record and 17-9 mark on our website, reminding hockey fans just how dominant a team they really were.
