Angels, Alek Manoah Agree To Major League Deal

The Angels and right-hander Alek Manoah are in agreement on a one-year, $1.95MM contract, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. The Halos have multiple 40-man vacancies and won’t need to make a corresponding move for the Covenant Sports Group client.

It’s a clear buy-low move for the Angels. Manoah was once a first round pick and top prospect, then became a Cy Young candidate as of a few years ago. But more recently, injuries and underperformance bumped his stock to the point that he was non-tendered by Atlanta last month.

More to come.
