The Green Bay Packers made a big move in the offseason. They traded Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys to acquire Micah Parsons.
That, plus the draft capital they gave up and the massive contract extension they signed him to, was quite a steep price to pay. Then again, that’s the kind of move you make whenever a player of Parsons’ caliber becomes available, as it doesn’t happen very often.
However, the Packers didn’t have much time to address Clark’s exit. His departure left a big void in the middle of the defensive line, and as great a player as Parsons is, he’s never been known for his prowess against the run.
With that in mind, the Packers might be in the mix for a defensive tackle in next year’s edition of the NFL Draft. According to Bleacher Report’s NFL Draft Scouting Department, they could look to make a run at A’Mauri Washington of Oregon, Lee Hunter of Texas Tech, or Dontay Corleone of Cincinnati:
“Defensive tackles have been discussed for the Packers during Week 1 and Week 6 and spotlighted in Week 10, but let’s continue to work down B/R’s big board and explore Green Bay’s options. The Texas Tech product above is one nose tackle to keep tabs on during the upcoming College Football Conference Championships and Playoffs. The phrase ‘country strong’ comes to mind when watching Hunter’s tape. The 6’4″, 330-pound defensive lineman has impressive size and strength to be a run-stuffer in the middle of the trenches on first and second downs. But his lack of athleticism and an effective get-off limits his contributions as a pass-rusher,” BR NFL Draft Scouting Dept. wrote.
While none of these players are considered to be elite prospects, it’s worth noting that the Packers won’t have a first-round pick in 2026. That was one of the conditions of Micah Parsons’ trade.
As such, GM Brian Gutekunst will have to get extra creative to patch this roster up with the assets he has at his disposal. Still, given how much value this team has usually found in the draft, they should still be able to find their guy.
