The Baltimore Ravens stand at 5-5 and are riding a four-game winning streak as they attempt to build momentum toward the playoffs. Their defense has stabilized after an uneven start, yet the offensive line remains a significant liability.

Lamar Jackson has absorbed 23 sacks through seven games, matching his entire total from last season and raising questions about protection up front. ESPN analyst Mina Kimes examined the problem during her show, highlighting the dramatic decline in the Ravens’ pass protection efficiency this year.

“Last year, he had the fourth-best pressure-to-sack ratio in football. This year, it’s 31st. He is sacked 30 percent of the time when he’s pressured. I don’t think he’s losing his athleticism. But I do think the offensive line, they’re not as good as they were last year,” Kimes said.

Jackson’s durability has already been tested in 2025. He missed three games and four weeks due to a hamstring injury while appearing in only seven contests. His recent practice absences compound those concerns.

A knee injury sidelined him last week, while an ankle issue kept him out this week. Head coach John Harbaugh acknowledged the similarities to the previous week’s situation, though Jackson’s mounting injuries suggest deeper problems with staying healthy under constant pressure.

The current trajectory resembles the 2021 season, when Jackson suffered 38 sacks across 12 games before an ankle injury forced him to miss Baltimore’s final five contests. In 2021, Baltimore started strong at 8-3 before collapsing to 8-9 and missing the playoffs following Jackson’s departure.

Without significant offensive line improvements, Baltimore faces similar risks. Even if Jackson remains upright, the relentless hits could compromise their playoff window or weaken their chances once they reach the postseason.
