The Arizona Cardinals have seen what was supposed to be a promising, playoff-contending season completely fall apart. There’s not much hope of turning things around this year as the schedule toughens up with the Jacksonville Jaguars up next in Week 12.

Just because this is turning into a lost season doesn’t mean the Cardinals are going to stop looking for ways to improve. They recently made six roster moves, and one offensive weapon could be ready to return.

The Cardinals opened the practice window for running back Trey Benson. They also signed punter Matt Haack, added receiver Trent Sherfield, linebacker Jared Bartlett, and offensive lineman Trey Wedig to the practice squad, and cut safety Jalen Virgil.

Kyler Murray and Marvin Harrison are out, and it’s no surprise the team is struggling without those two and James Conner, who is on injured reserve. When a starting quarterback, No. 1 receiver and No. 1 running back are out with injuries, it’s time for fans to start looking at mock drafts.

Benson was supposed to ease the loss of Conner, but he also suffered an injury and hasn’t played since. Arizona is down to its fourth-string running back in Bam Knight, as Emari Demercado suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 11 against the San Francisco 49ers and is unlikely to play against Jacksonville.

It’s a mess on offense, though it was fun to watch Jacoby Brissett set the single-game NFL record for completions against the Niners. He’ll try for an encore performance against the Jaguars, who are in the AFC playoff picture and will be looking to build off a big win against the Los Angeles Chargers.
