The Cincinnati Bengals might want to reconsider their plans with Joe Burrow. The quarterback is reportedly trying to return from a toe injury this season, but it might already be too late.
Once again, the Bengals haven’t been able to get anything going on defense. Even when quarterback Joe Flacco and the offense have played well and put up points, the other side of the ball hasn’t held up its end of the bargain.
In fact, the Bengals’ defense set an unwanted NFL record through nine games.
“The Bengals have now given up 27+ points in nine consecutive games. That is the new NFL record,” SleeperBengals wrote on X.

The Bengals have the worst scoring defense in the league. They can’t stop the pass or the run, and they’re easy to beat in the red zone.
Even when Aaron Rodgers left with an injury, the Bengals allowed backup Mason Rudolph to look like a starting-caliber quarterback in the Week 11 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Clearly, former defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo wasn’t the problem for Cincinnati, as he’s now thriving with the Indianapolis Colts and has even been mentioned as a potential head coaching candidate.
The Bengals have used plenty of draft picks to solve their defensive woes. Perhaps they should’ve spent some of the money they invested in their high-flying offense.
Signs are pointing to this being the end of the line for head coach Zac Taylor. While the front office should also go through some changes, new leadership might be just what the Bengals need to finally get it together.
