Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders turned a lot of heads last season, and rightfully so. This season, however, no one seems to be talking the same way about Jaxson Dart and the New York Giants.

If Daniels was considered to have one of the greatest rookie seasons by any quarterback, what Dart has done has been arguably more impressive. The only problem, however, is that the Giants aren’t winning.

Whatever the case, Dart’s numbers have been mesmerizing, and he recently made NFL history with a rare dual-threat milestone.

According to StatMuse, Dart is the first rookie to have at least 1,000 passing yards, 250 rushing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and five rushing touchdowns in the first nine games of his career.

To make it even more impressive, Dart has done so while starting just seven of those games and leaving some with injury. While he is clearly a fearless competitor, he’s taken too many unnecessary hits.

He leads all NFL quarterbacks with 25 designed runs. Even though he’s more than capable of big gains with his legs, the Giants need to do a better job keeping him out of harm’s way.

He’s already been evaluated for a concussion four times. He’s also dealing with an ankle injury and might miss the Week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers, which is New York’s first after firing head coach Brian Daboll.

Despite those historic stats, the Giants need to protect their franchise player from himself. He has the talent and physical traits to be a superstar, but his body will only be able to withstand so much.
