The New York Giants are finally making a change. Following another heartbreaking loss, they’ve moved on from their head coach.

According to ESPN insider Adam Schefter, Brian Daboll “is out.” Assistant head coach/offensive coordinator Mike Kafka will take over.

Truth be told, this is far from a surprise. If anything, the only surprise is that it didn’t happen sooner.

Daboll was one of the favorites to be the first NFL head coach to lose his job this year. That wasn’t the case, as the Tennessee Titans previously fired Brian Callahan, but as the season moved along, it was just a matter of time.

The Giants squandered multiple big leads, many times due to poor decision-making and terrible clock management. Those issues came up again in their Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears.

New York gave up 33 points in the fourth quarter of its Week 7 loss to the Denver Broncos. Though that’s the type of loss that gets a coach fired, Daboll survived for another three games.

He was 20-40-1 in four seasons with New York after serving as a longtime NFL offensive coordinator. Notably, the Giants reportedly will keep general manager Joe Schoen, who is arguably the main person responsible for the team’s recent failures.

At least, the Giants seem to have found their franchise QB in Jaxson Dart. Now, they’ll have to find the right head coach to develop him, and there should be plenty of candidates eager for that opportunity.
