The Seattle Seahawks have quietly positioned themselves as one of the NFL’s most dangerous teams heading into Week 10.
After receiving minimal attention throughout the offseason and early weeks of the season, Seattle has transformed into a legitimate Super Bowl contender.
The turnaround has been fueled largely by the resurgence of quarterback Sam Darnold, whose career revival continues to generate attention across the league.
Darnold’s path to this point has been unconventional.
Following several underwhelming seasons to start his career, he rebuilt his reputation with a strong campaign in Minnesota before carrying that momentum to Seattle.
Analyst Colin Cowherd recently discussed Darnold’s transformation during a podcast episode, comparing it to a rare narrative shift in professional sports.
“Sam Darnold was so bad in New York, I was like, ‘I don’t know what happened. I thought he was gonna be sort of a little bit of Andrew Luck.’ His last two years, he is now, with all analytics, the best quarterback in the NFL,” Cowherd said.
“If you’re talking today, this second, Sam Darnold is the best quarterback in the NFL. It is unbelievable.”@colincowherd says the Seahawks QB’s play puts him at the top of the QB Pyramid this season pic.twitter.com/AnPcme1bos

Cowherd placed Darnold at the top of his quarterback performance pyramid, ranking him above Matthew Stafford, Justin Herbert, Baker Mayfield, and Patrick Mahomes, among others, based on current play.
He acknowledged that career résumés tell a different story but insisted Darnold’s recent performance separates him from the rest of the league this season.
The supporting cast around Darnold has also contributed to his success.
An improved offensive line has given Darnold more time to operate within the system.
Cowherd pointed to Darnold’s early struggles in New York, where turnovers outnumbered touchdowns and production fell below backup-level standards.
Given the consistent failures of Jets quarterbacks, he views Darnold’s current resurgence as something almost unbelievable in its rarity.
