Steelers Sign Former Chiefs Defender

The Pittsburgh Steelers have added another big body to their defense.

They have signed lineman Brodric Martin-Rhodes off the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

The move puts them back at a full 53-man roster after being down to 52 players for the past couple of weeks.

The move isn’t a surprise, all things considered.

Defensive lineman Daniel Ekuale sustained a season-ending ACL injury, and Isaiahh Loudermilk is on injured reserve.

Martin-Rhodes has played just 53 defensive snaps over two seasons after entering the league as a third-round pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2023 NFL Draft.

He played in five games for Detroit with one start, logging four combined tackles.

The Steelers are coming off their best defensive performance of the season in a Week 9 victory against the Indianapolis Colts.

They will need to replicate that type of success in the upcoming weeks to be taken seriously as a playoff contender.

Aaron Rodgers is turning back the clock to give Pittsburgh its best quarterback play in years, but he can only do so much if the team isn’t getting stops on the other side of the ball.

Head coach Mike Tomlin is one of the best defensive minds in the game, so his team should be just fine during the second half of the season.

The Steelers visit the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10 on “Sunday Night Football.”
