Giants Made 2 Roster Moves On Thursday

The New York Giants are 2-5 and without top receiver Malik Nabers for the season, leaving their playoff hopes hanging by a thread.

The roster gaps have become glaring, particularly at receiver, where rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart desperately needs more weapons.

With the trade deadline approaching, the Giants made moves Thursday aimed at addressing those concerns and keeping their flickering postseason chances alive.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, New York signed former Falcons wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud III to their practice squad.

The team also re-signed kicker Jude McAtamney to the practice squad under an international player exemption after waiving him on Tuesday.

Defensive back LaMareon James was released from the practice squad to create roster space for the additions.

Atlanta parted ways with McCloud earlier this week after sending him home from the facility and holding him out of Week 7.

Head coach Raheem Morris clarified the decision wasn’t disciplinary but rather a football matter that required resolution.

McCloud appeared in four games this season, recording six receptions for 64 yards while returning two punts for no gain and four kickoffs for 91 yards.

The loss of Nabers and Darius Slayton’s hamstring injury has forced Wan’Dale Robinson into a larger role as the primary target.

Robinson has handled the workload, but depth remains a concern heading into critical divisional games.

McCloud brings veteran experience and special teams value that could prove useful once he acclimates to the offense, potentially offering more reliability than current depth options Beaux Collins or Jalin Hyatt.

Meanwhile, McAtamney served as the Giants’ kicker from Week 4 through Week 7 before being waived on Tuesday.

Graham Gano had his 21-day practice window opened for Week 8 as he recovers from a groin injury.

Gano is expected to return Sunday against Philadelphia, while Younghoe Koo remains on the practice squad as insurance.
